RETREAT!

Had a great time this past weekend in St Simons Island Georgia.
Went to a Methodist Church Retreat at Epworth by the Sea which is where the founder of the methodist religen in the states first set up shop. I did feel a little like a monk tho. I had a room with twin beds and we ate in a cafeteria style environment. The bells in the tower went off every quarter hour and in addition played some old hyms occasionally.

Prayer room glass.
Spanish Moss oaks all over the property and indeed the entire island! Memories of South Carolina.

Magnolias were in bloom!

Barb and I made the most of our time off on Saturday by going to the little downtown and shopping, eating, drinking and pool shooting. Boy were we pooped afterwards : )

On my way home yesterday I stopped at Fort Frederica on the north tip of St Simons Island. Built by the British to fight off the Spanish takeover. Oglethorp was the man in charge and he built a whole town with a wall around it but he was such a hard man to get along with that a lot of peolpe left within five years or "quitted the town" as the old writings say.
It burned years later and pretty much all that's left are footprints of where the homes were and some small pieces of the fort.
Mostly all the buildings were made of a mixture called "tabby" which is morter with shells mixed in.
