They had this lovely trail that wound it's way through these granite quarries that have been worked since the 1800's. I think Georgia would have been the "granite state" if New Hampshire hadn't claimed it first.

Oh Atlanta
Last week we went to Conyers, Georgia, which is right outside Atlanta, to get a tow hitch put on the van. We have been using our little Toyota Scion to go camping but Ray has to drive all the time.
While we were waiting for the hitch install , which took a day and a half because the gas tank has to be retrofitted, we went to the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve park near by. We stopped at Chick Filet and had our "fast food" picnic in the park. There was a big family picnic going on next to us that shared some of their fruit salad with us for dessert. Yum.
Ray and Gator climbing a tree! Click on any picture for a close-up.

Lots of places in the trail that included parts of the granite bluffs and small mountains built right in. It was cool. And Gator seemed to enjoy it too.
Ray foraged through the shale to find us a nice memorial stone of our trip. We looked all over for signs saying not to remove the stones but could find nothing. So next time we bring the pick up truck and get enough for a nice patio. : ) kidding.
Vacation bible school last week where I was craft leader by default this year. Loads of fun. After that Ray had to make 24 PB + J sandwiches (without crusts) for the good-bye celebration for our pastors who are both transferring out. The new guy seems nice and will take over in two weeks. We hope he stays longer than 3 years.

Hey! Next time you go to Atlanta go and see the Civil War Panarama. It is great and also Stone Mountain is fun too?? God Bless, Love you, Mom
Georgia and New Hampshire are both part of the Appalachian orogenic belt, geologically speaking. That accounts for the outcrops of granite in your photographs. Of course, culturally, the two states may not even be said to speak the same language, but that's another story...
